2.2. The Genboard Package and its Accessories
The VEMS market is literally worldwide. We have headquarters in Europe and the United States of America. Orders are placed through a common website at
http://shop.x-dsl.hu/catalog/index.php?cPath=1
The order is then put together and shipped.
Each unit comes fully assembled with the few exceptions being developers and special requests. A fully assembled Genboard will come with the following installed: 12 FETs (injector/high current drivers), 8 IGBTs (ignition drivers), and Econoseal III 36-pin and 18-pin automotive grade connectors. Each of these boards have been tested to make sure they are correctly assembled. Wideband LSU4 sensors, EGT probes, engine harnesses, LCDs, Rescue Kits, spare parts, and other miscellaneous parts can also be purchased to make your installation complete.
Items commonly included for Genboard v3 for max 8 cyl and WBO2: (note that configuration for fewer channels is easy in any case, and any of these items can be replaced by parts that you supply.)
- Genboard v3 (includes the Rescue Kit, though you won't need much from it in the common case)
- 10 FET (FQPF20N06L)
- 8 ignition IGBT
- 2.5 bar MAP sensor (MPX4250AP) onboard. Can be relocated.
- WBO2 connector
- LSU4 WBO2 sensor
Econoseal III and Alubos1600 casing option
This package makes the commonly used casing possible: exactly how Genboard v3 was designed.
- Alubos1600 (6 drill screws included)
- 2x Alubos gaskets
- 3x FET/IGBT clamping plates (screws included)
- 3x FET/IGBT insulator-sheet
- Econoseal 36 pin PC board connector
- Econoseal 18 pin PC board connector
- EC36-wire
- EC18-wire
- Frontplate (plastic, transparent, including windows for EC36-pcb and EC18-pcb). Aluminum instead of transparent plate and DB connector instead of Econoseal connector windows optional.
Note that EC36-harness and EC18-harness are possible instead of EC36-wire and EC18-wire for a little extra cost if you don't want to crimp the receptacles yourself.
LCD and keyboard
- LCD Display. 4x20 characters with backlight.
- PS2 extension cable. This makes it easier to connect a PS2 keyboard.
Advanced options
- Knock kit (TPIC8101 chip)
- K-Type thermocouple for EGT and amplifier chip (AD597AR 8 pin chip)
- DS2480B and I-button probe (reader) + I button
Rescue kit #1
- 0805 SMD resistors: appr 15 values, 6 pieces of each. Standard notation, e.g. 472 is 47 x 10^2 which equals 4700 ohms.
- Diodes for flyback: 8..10 SMB diodes used for low voltage flyback. These are fast 2A (usually 600V, although voltage doesn't count as long as above 20V) diodes. Read "S2J", "ES2J" or "m124 b14 zp" on the top.
- LM324D custom 'mid' OPA: populating the third (on the PCB it's located in the middle at the front? - FIXME) operational amplifier allows some very special features. For now this is only used for advanced applications.
- Powerful throughole transient protection (zener-like) diode (1.5KE18 is 18V ; 1.5kE22 is 22V). Already installed at the bottom of the board, so normally not needed
- 3x1n4007 1A throughole diode - general purpose. Rarely used.
- Barrel-like 1.5uH 5.4A inductor (marked 1R5)
- some header pins
Rescue Kit #2
Most of the capacitors are not labeled, but it is possible to quickly identify them keying by size, number, tape-material and physical size. 0805 is the smallest we use, 1206 is medium and 1210 is huge. the number of caps and the tape-material will tell you the value according to the table below:
- 3x 1n 0805 50V paper
- 5x 10n 0805 50V paper
- 4x 100n 0805 50V paper
- 8x 220n 0805 50V paper
- 3x 1u 0805 25V transparent (tall)
- 2x 2.2u 0805 16V transparent (tall)
- 1x 10u 1210 35V transparent (large)
- 1x 10u 1206 10V transparent
- 2x 1u 1206 50V transparent
- 2x 5V1 SOD80 zener diode (not capacitor)
TIP: Update your printed list if you use some parts, so you can keep track.
