I would like to better understand the inside of what I have worked with for so many years from the "outside". See http://www.lolachampcar.com for more info.
Do you have a particular project engine in mind ?
It depends on the capability of GenBoard/VerThree
- [HW] supports everything with the exception of IonSense and 4-wheel tractioncontrol (that are being worked on).
- the firmware (although competitive in its class) has somewhat more limitations (also worked on)
- MegaTune supports almost everything the firmware supports
- exceptions are some harware-testing functions useful before tuning
- and firmware upgrade is done from a separate program (though distributed with MegaTune)
Mostly, I would like to understand how engine control is handled and thus better understand the inner workings of the XB and XD fuel controls. I am particularly interested in the XD (and still used on the XF and IRL engines) boost and traction control.
V3 may also be good for the small block chevy in the Spice.
Is there a more detailed description of V3's main loop and the theory of operations of each of the modules accessed by the main loop?
Most users are not interested in this level, and first the parts they are interested in will be documented to a sufficient level. GenBoard/Manual and MegaTune should give a good impression of the functions.
Anyway, I think the only way to proceed is plan what you'd like to control and we help to plan if/how it can be done.
I once found some firmware for using V3 to reverse an existing ignition advance curve from another ecu. Can anyone point me back to that page as I seem unable to find it again through searches. Thank You
