Tachometer / Boostgauge

Tachometer
A logiclevel-input tachometer can be driven from virtually any output. Eg. the stepper outputs (push-pull 0/12V) can be used, or a low current ("p259") output and an 510 Ohm pullup resistor to +12V (normally 1k or 2k2 pullup should suffice, but some older Audi and a few other tachinputs need stronger pullup, so 510 Ohm became common value for this).
Frequency calibration: adjustable with the divider setting (default=16: 1 pulse per spark event). 1-5 divider value is special (since 1.1.78): set 1/32, 2/32, 3/32, 4/32 or 5/32 output duty with 1-5 divider setting, useful when the tacho gauge does not like 50% duty like in some Nissan, edis4 Ford Cosworth, etc... (Note1: the freq is 1 pulse / spark, same as with divider=16. Note2: the tach output can be inverted for 100%-X duty if needed).

Boost Gauge Settings

PWM (or with RC filter: analog signal) output, mostly for the dashes of (~1989-91) Audi S2/4x (3B, AAN/ADU/ABY) gauge, but also potentially useful for other display or datalogger; for a VEMS EAW-52 round, roundv2 or "displayonly round" display the precision of the digitally sent MAP value is always superior to an analog value.

from v3 firmware 1.2.34 this has been extended to allow selectable input channel to make it more versatile (and renamed to Many Gauge)

  • Audi 3B/AAN/ADU/ABY boost gauge defaults: MAP, offset -60, mult 70
  • Peugeot/Citroen coolant gauge defaults: CLT, offset -46, mult 326
