Finalization of round potting

- 0 (postponed) with 36*17mm (centrally positioned) rectangular plexi window. Also 10 drills: 9xdia=3.05mm for throughole LEDs and 1xdia=5.1mm for pushbutton (Jorgen defined the coordinates in dxf in Smalldisplay_case.zip file). Note that this design does NOT have any O-ring
- 0 (postponed, it would fit above also postponed case) straight top and bottom (but rounded at left and right side) plexi frontplates, green-darkgrey-ish only.
- 500+ pushbutton caps with appr. 5mm dia, 9.5 .. 10mm total height (slightly rounded top, height at center is 0.5mm bigger than at circumference). Total height formula: 9.5mm = BA5612GWA + plexi+ stickout - SDTM620 = 8+3+ stickout - 4.15 mm where stickout=2.65 mm (central part sticks out 2.65 mm when unpressed. Circumference sticks out less than 2mm, and just tiny bit more than 1mm when pressed). Beware that there are 2 different height button-caps manufactured
- 400 + 400 + 400 round plexi plates (400 of each color: fully transparent, reddish and green-darkgrey-ish ) with a 5mm drill at 14 mm from center (so either 5mm throughole LED or 5mm CNC-lathed pushbutton cap fits)
outer dia
Outer dia was chosen as outerdia_nominal=51.85mm (min 51.8 .. max 51.9mm) because noone confirmed that 52mm is safe. Unfortunately outerdia=51.85mm is rather etched in stone for the first 500 cases. The reason is the 55.0 and 52.0 mm tools to hold the 2 ends of the CNC-ed piece has arrived and if we want outerdia=51.2mm a new tool must be ordered. Only cost about 100 Euro, but it takes about 7 days to arrive from Germany. In any case, if we decide about manufacturing outerdia=51.2mm we should decide ASAP.
internal diameter
TODO: determine final size: 48.5 mm? or 48.6 mm ?
Bezel
Free to change. Don't shrink the internal dia with more than 1mm because it effects look.
total height of the assembled board
12mm seems to be worstcase (BA56-126GWA display), so 13 .. 15mm internal space should be very safe (17mm in first batch, and even more available with glue instead of endplate). This can be changed freely at this stage
Cases based on 120x40x2.5mm profile - everything is ready for the manufacture but we delay it a bit
Unfortunately this case will not fit for high-end VemsFrontier/ArmEfi with SAAB70 or alike connector. But good fit for still high functionality EC36 products (that will cover 80% of controller sales for a long time):
- CDI
- medium-featureset (still awesome) ECM ( called armufo so armefi is reserved for the highend )
- also used as MAP / MAF substitute
- data acquisition (more inputs, less outputs)
EC36 based ARM fuel-injection capable armufo board will be sent in at the same time (or sooner) as the big full-featured SAAB70 armefi ECM
- Al frontplate (EC36 center is 10mm from frontplate center). To the left / right must be decided
- Al endplate
- plexi endplate (also used as display frontplate, but we name it endplate to avoid confusion )
Plan
- I haven't found many reasonable places to cast the small dongle "case". Since a nice dongle case seems tougher task than I thought, I keep looking for professional partners before tweaking myself.
- I found an PCI Apogel-E 2-component elastic stuff that should be suitable. Unfortunately very low viscosity before polymerizing.
- for 1-piece (CNC-ed) negative, the top surface must be flat. It would be a futuristic spaceship-like shape
- for 2-piece (CNC-ed) negative, there is some more shape freedom but more complexity too
- in any case, it will be interesting job to prevent leaking at the meeting point of the WBO2 connector and the negative
- try to find feasible case solution for a wider (than 114mm) board with SAAB70 connector

- Jörgen Karlsson. Good knowledge about the tools and procedures, good sense for the mechanical function of the finished product and cost for the solution. Fair sense of the estetics. But I'm not close to our current manufacturing facility and do not use the same primitive tools (like some manufacturers we use like using Corel draw - when 2D is anough -, others use Autocad) (40hrs/month)

Desperate last-minute help - quick survey - what size is yours ?
Rumours have it that some manufacturers don't obey standards. To make sure the round display case fits in your gauge panel, we'd like some help with measurements.
If you have a "52 mm" gauge or a gauge panel, (and a caliper) please measure the diameter. Also, write a few words of description.
