The University Of Hertfordshire has a lot of research into engine development. The university has got 20 years experience building competition cars, both in Formula Student and Shell Eco-Marathon.
We are asking for help and support, in order to teach more automotive students about mapping and engine configurations using VEMS products, previously using Life Racing products.
We aim to have a working dyno using the ECU and other VEMS components in a month, then implementing the system onto a larger forced induction engine.
Just curious:
- Why is a "larger" engine used for education ?
- Smaller engines are more suitable for education (for several reasons).
- and what type of trigger inputs ? VR, HALL ? Or HALL,HALL ?
- please check the options, at least the important ones (select options, and add to cart, and copy here for discussion reference).
Specs
- 4 ignition drivers (IGBT for passive igncoils ??)
- 2 EGT inputs
- 2 knock inputs
- LSU4.9 wideband lambda control (1ch)
- LCD connection
- and removable SD card compatibility
Shop items
- [Harnes to save time implementing the system]
- please note that even with a generic harness, detailed plans are still needed, of what to connect, and how
- [Vems Round] (or displayonly round to display data measured by VEMS ECU ?)
- Please create a page of what data is needed on LED and LCD displays. [android] is usually favored nowadays (although some data on LED is more visible).
The items can be donated, if
- it's clear what IO (inputs, outputs) are planned to be used,
- and what data would be displayed
- at least some initial plans / examples; of course many things can be reconfigured in software, but some things
We obviously understand if you cannot donate all of these items but we have a keen interest in your products and aim to get our motorsport students using VEMS equipment.
Thank you for your support VEMS Team! With your help, we can be much more successful at Shell Eco-marathon 2018 and we aim to travel to the Americas, Asia and the European events!
Please detail subsystems somewhat, so better verification of extra IO is possible.
Analog inputs
- TPS
- MAP
- CLT
- MAT
- VBATT (internally measured)
extra Analog inputs
- fuel pressure ?
Activation inputs
- shiftcut ?
