BMW S14B23 (M3 E30 2.3L euro version) turbo engine with (4 cylinders, firing order 1342)
4 Low Z (Peak and Hold) injectors (Full Sequential control)
Ignition outputs
with wasted spark coilpacks ...
- so 2 active coils or 2 passive coils ?
- In any case, 6 or 8 IGBT is good choice
- for 2 passive coils, even just 2 or 4 IGBT also enough (also enough for plenty active coils), but less spare power-outputs for extras
- HINT: even if you choose ECU with 6 IGBTs, make the harness so the 2 passive ignition coils are controlled by EC36/34 and EC36/36 (pretend that only 2 IGBT-s available while designing/making the harness)
- this way even a "spare" VEMS ECU with only 2 power-IGBT ignout can control it. Although possible to do differently, there is no justification to wire in any other way.
1 knock sensor already installed on the block
1 External map sensor connected in the Inlet Manifold
1 Exhaust Gaz Temperature already installed in the exhaust piping
1 Boost Solenoid connected to an external Wastegate
The Primary Trigger is: VR
The Secondary Trigger is: VR

Questions:
- “active flyback" is a must for low-Z injectors (universal: can be used for high-Z too)”.
- => does that mean that as now as I have mounted low Z injectors on this block and if I want later to go to High Z injectors this will be ok to control them with this ?
- YES, [active flyback] installed internally => suitable for either High-Z or Low-Z
Trigger
Could please confirm my choice of the primary trigger : VR and the secondary trigger : VR ?
- measure primary and secondary trigger:
- if you find 2 pins with same resistance (usually between 350 and 1500 Ohm) in both directions, that is VR sensor. Otherwise HALL.
- take note of resistance (we'll confirm when we see your measurement)
