Car is Audi S4 Avant 93' with 2.5T AAN engine.
New setup:
Toyota 7mgte pistons machined
bmw h-beam rods
audi 2.5tdi crank
stock AAN motor block
2.54L of engine displacement
1200cc EV14 injectors
HX40Super 14#
tubular manifold
600x300x76 IC
3.5" DP and exhaust to the end
Pump fuel RON98
fuel supply: two bosch 044 with surge tank, fuel line ID 10mm
Power figures at the moment: 2.2bar boost -> 555hp and 575Nm from wheels
Plug n Play Vems motronic v3.6
I was wondering if it is possible to run extra injector on secondary boost tabel? Like people are doing with water injection. I run out of injectors even with 4bar on E90, so i need additional fuel. I thought i'll add another 2200cc injector before TB and then i should in theory have enough fuel for 2.5bar boost. What do you think guys?
GintsK: 550hp and out of fuel? 1200 @4bar are capable to feed close to 900hp at 100%DC on E90. So delivered fuel flow is too low or your FPR is kind of crap.
Rst: 550hp was with pump fuel. I was running out of fuel with E90. Injector pulse with went to 23ms allready. My injectors are about 1400cc@4bar x 5 = 7L/min. I friend of mine run out of injectors on ~530kW at wheels and he had 4 x 2200=8.8L/min. With E90 or E100 you need a lot of fuel with lambda 0.72-0.75. So my question is still can i run extra injector on secondary boost table?
GintsK: yes you probably can. Without precision. Better would be use injector staging - it works smoothly and include all necessary fuel calculations. But IMHO.... problem is in fuel delivery. You are still on Holset? It does not flow for 870Hp. Right? Then problem is fuel delivery. Injectors should handle it even on E100 on richer side. Or if you are on bigger turbo now you have to add third 044 because two can not deliver 7 l/min @[4+2.5bar=6.5bar] fuel pressure! So it is fuel delivery problem again.
Old setup:
stock pistons
h-beam rods
1200cc EV14 injectors
HX40Super 14#
tubular manifold
600x300x76 IC
3.5" DP and exhaust to the end
Using E85 as fuel
fuel supply: two bosch 044 with surge tank, fuel line ID 10mm
Power figures at the moment: 2.3bar boost -> 545hp and 600Nm from wheels
Plug n Play Vems motronic v3.6
I was wondering if is it possible to log 5 egt sensors with my vems? Or maybe someone knows some good equipment for this?
- up to 8 channels can be logged relatively easily.
- This is becoming a common request. Last week a guy requested an ECU with 2 onboard + 4 [EGT amplifiers] built into ECU for 6 EGT inputs. Just put the items in the cart, and write in the order note: "2+3 EGT inputs please".
- For analog (mcp3208) inputs with no pullup, just connect the 0-5V output (1V / 239 Celsius) [EGT amplifier/pin6]
- For analog (mcp3208) input with pullup, either remove the internal pullup resistor, or use [EGT amplifier/pin7] with your own resistor divider made from low value resistors:
- 1k between mcp3208 input and GND
- 1k6 between mcp3208 input and pin7 (or max 2k7). Calibrate with DVM
On 1 november 2010 the car went to dyno. It made 450hp an 540 nm from wheels. The resluts are little bit modest because one 044 bosch fule pump just can keep up with 80lb/h injectors and holset. Now i need to put two additional fuel pumps with surge tank, just to be sure. Lets hope 520hp and 650nm from wheels will be then achievable.
PS! The car is running now PnP Vems motronic V3.6.
The car works and no trigger errors has been recorded so far (driven for about 150km). The problem was that i am using Fidanza ALU flywheel. It has to small trigger for the VR sensor. It has to be bigger. Second thing were the bolts on the flywheel that hold the toothed to the flywheel. These bolt are made for regular steel. These must be changed to stainless steel or smth else that dosent react to magnet.
Also the hall sensor (near the firewall) must be in it's original markings.
After doing these little "improvments" the car started.
Now it needs to be tuned correctly and then i can enjoy my car. :) Let's see how much power and torque will the holset HX40Super give my dailydriver.

- what modifications were done ?
- besides the home-installed AudiTrigger/CamHALLInverter)..
- ... ?
- Did the engine work before ?
- How are you sure that the used ign outputs are logiclevel ?
- Do the ign outputs (when power output stages are disconnected) measure -12V when measured from +12V as a base ? (ign on, but engine off)
We will verify your ign outputs when we see ign outputs in your config+tables ( h[2] )
- I see the wiring http://gph.planet.ee/vems/RST/ but that's just one half of the story
The ignition can be spark-tested with Man mdn00 mdn04 mdn03 mdn02 mdn01 (also from the ignition outputs dialog in new VemsTune).
- For all high-voltage ignition ("ign transformer secondary") wires make sure there is return path to engine head, eg. sparkplug thread touches ground.
- Don't electrocute yourself or the controller.
- Car doesn't start. it gives something like 5 misfires for 6-10 sec starting.
- When I tried without HALL inverter the engine gave some backfires but still not started.
- If the HALL signal and Flywheel triger wasn't aligned correctly the engine sometimes started.
The setup uses HALL trigger from distributor. The HALL signal is inverted. (home-installed AudiTrigger/CamHALLInverter).
Measure voltage BEFORE and AFTER the inverter (during cranking)
- I measured it with scope and it's ok.
The trigger_tooth=08 is good for
- factory HALL window position WITHOUT camHALL inverter
- or HALL window 180 camdegrees offset, WITH camHALL inverter
- Marcell has such setup working on his 3B. Note that ignout=cyl5 cyl4 cyl2 cyl1 cyl3 ... applies for that !
We MUST see your ignition output configuration as well (and reference trigger tooth array). Publish the mct dump (the tables are best, make a screenshot at a minimum)
