1981 Volvo 242 DL
The car is a result of spare parts lying around my dad's workshop. It's built as a rally car for the streets, later on it's going to be licensed as a rally car so it can be used in hillclimbs.
- B21ET Turbo engine w/Mitsubishi TD04HL16-T turbo.
- Volvo 940 Turbo intake manifold with Bosch 337 cc/min Low-Z injectors and Volvo 850 TPS.
- Custom made triggerwheel with Honeywell 1GT101 same as [this car]
- Singe coil and distributor ignition, no cam sensor.
Trigger plate welded to crank.
Fabric new B21ET engine.
Update 2006-11-17
The car runs well with standalone ignition unit (Lumenition).
When using VEMS ignition, I cant get the ignition over 0° while cranking.
- If I set "TDC after the trigger" lower than "2" my timinglight stops blinking. I tried 5-10-15 and 20 on "Priming, Cranking, Afterstart" - "Cranking advance" and still I get 0° on the timinglight.
- that is no surprise:
- "TDC after trigger" (ign_tdcdelay) should be around 66 degrees in this case. Below 40 degrees is invalid setting anyway (It must be 5..10 degree higher than maximum ignadv.)
A: TDC after the trigger should be 65-70 if the trigger is mounted properly. if you have it at 65-70 after the trigger, your setting should be 110-115 degrees.
Also make sure that ignition offset, under Extras , Advanced ALS is set to 0 degrees.
A setting of 2degrees TDC after the trigger will make it impossible to have advance above 2 degrees.
Update 2006-11-18
Moved trigger plate 90° to right and trigger, "TDC after trigger" is 70 and ignition now works fine.
Harness cleaning is next, gah.
