This page is about installing VEMS on my BWM 325iX, it's based on the E30 chassis and was manufactured in 1989. It's got AWD (the X in the model name) and here is [an old picture of the car].
My V3.1 board
Progress report:
- Found rescue kit 1 (don't ask)
- Shorted F1 and soldered the big coil on L3
- Added low-voltage flyback diodes
- Flyback wire to EC36-pin22
- VR on primary trigger
Issues left:
- The stepper chip, will research more on GenBoard/BuildProcedures/Stepper
- Update firmware
- Test all outputs
- Mount in Alubos case
Notes
- The stock fuel economy gauge (litres/km) is controlled by voltage
- Gauge range is between 0 to 1.5 Volts
- I will update the page with a link to a picture of the gauge later.
- Can this be controlled some how using PWM on one output? I'd like to use this as a pressure gauge, preferrably for MAP.
I have a similar (input and input range) gauge from an old Porsche (that is originally for RPM, but the freq=>voltage part is broken and ripped).
I see no problems.
- I think a simple softpwm control will be applied
- with wired (compile-time) selection of MAP for now, before the GenBoard/UnderDevelopment/DigitalInputs is implemented.
