I have an '88 Volkswagen Scirocco
My goals
- To have control over engine management
- Make car reliable (near stock levels?)
- Learn about what makes all these variables work together
- NOT TO BLOW UP THE MOTOR
Car Specs
- Suspension
- Eibach Sportline Springs
- Tokico Shocks and Struts (for now)
- Poly bushings
- Engine
- ABA 2.0l 4 cylinder motor (From OBDI Jetta or Golf)
- PL 16v head (From 1.8l 16v Scirocco)
- Thottlebody with TPS (From automatic Corrado - bolts on)
- Turbo T3 .60/.48 (From ~'84 Ford Thunderbird)
- Gillis boost controller (Manual screw type)
- Intercooler
- Fuel Injection from G60 Corrado (CURRENTLY)
- 48# high z injectors (correct if wrong - high z meaning constant voltage to open is what I am assuming)
- Transmission
- Stock time-bomb
VEMS SETUP
I am going with v3.3 assembled. Here is the current plans, which are subject to many, many changes.
Components
- Sensors
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
- GM #25036751
- Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP)
- 2.5 bar (on board ECM)
- 1 Wideband oxygen sensor (WB02)
- Bosch LSU4
- 1 knock sensor (engine can accept 2, so perhaps I will eventually use 2) - not yet implemented
- Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor (EGT) - not yet implemented
- K Type
- Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
- From automatic Corrado
- Fuel Pressure Sender - not yet implemented
- Probably the one at the VEMS webstore
- Boost Controller - not yet implemented
- Also through the VEMS webstore
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
Ignition and Injection Setup
- Crank trigger from ABA code motor - I won't be using a Hall
- VR std 60-2 VAG wheel on ABA crank. Those using different blocks may have to use external setups. See MembersPage/DerrickScirocco
- Part # 021 907 319 B
- VR std 60-2 VAG wheel on ABA crank. Those using different blocks may have to use external setups. See MembersPage/DerrickScirocco
- Wasted Spark Ignition
- 4 output coilpack from 99 2.0 8v VW - new beetle for sure, AEG engine code (this way I can use my stock plug wires)
- Part # 032 905 106 B
- 4 output coilpack from 99 2.0 8v VW - new beetle for sure, AEG engine code (this way I can use my stock plug wires)
- Sequential Fuel Injection (apparently it's an easy change toggling batch -> sequential, as long as you have the injectors wired separately)
Rewiring after killing an injector wire due to poor wiring
The ECU (which apparently is a v3.2 board has this mod using 0 ohm connections):
EGO Correction
I've enabled EGO correction to compensate for a rough VE table. This is the easiest method until I can get someone to drive the car while i learn how to adjust the VE table on the fly. It seems that EGO correction is not being turned on consistently and I don't know how to interpret what I see. What I feel is the EGO messing with small part throttle situations causing the car to hesitate. At full throttle conditions I don't think correction is being used. Feedback is appreciated.
