I have an '88 Volkswagen Scirocco
My goals
- To have control over engine management
- Make car reliable (near stock levels?)
- Learn about what makes all these variables work together
- NOT TO BLOW UP THE MOTOR
Car Specs
- Suspension
- Eibach Sportline Springs
- Tokico Shocks and Struts (for now)
- Poly bushings
- Engine
- ABA 2.0l 4 cylinder motor (From OBDI Jetta or Golf)
- PL 16v head (From 1.8l 16v Scirocco)
- Thottlebody with TPS (From automatic Corrado - bolts on)
- Turbo T3 .60/.48 (From ~'84 Ford Thunderbird)
- Gillis boost controller (Manual screw type)
- Intercooler
- Fuel Injection from G60 Corrado (CURRENTLY)
- 48# high z injectors (correct if wrong - high z meaning constant voltage to open is what I am assuming)
- Transmission
- Stock time-bomb
VEMS SETUP
I am going with v3.3 assembled. Here is the current plans, which are subject to many, many changes.
Planned components
- Sensors
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) from GM application
- Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP) 2.5 bar from GM
- 1 Wideband oxygen sensor (WBO2)
- 1 knock sensor (engine can accept 2, so perhaps I will eventually use 2)
- K-type Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor (EGT)
- Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) from Corrado
- What else?
Ignition and Injection Setup
- Crank trigger from ABA code motor
- Wasted Fire Ignition (there will be no cam position sensor)
- Coilpacks unknown...probably some 2x2 setup
- Batch Fire Injection (I believe you need a cam position sensor for sequential)
