I have used motec on GSXR1000 last year in a team which I had worked in. Motec M-800 is great but it is expensive. Genboard seem to have same or superior hardware specifications.

My engine started with Genboard working in fully sequencial ignition (with COP´s)!!!

Motorcycle Engine eddy current dynamometer
We have instaled a motec to work with a gsxr600 engine, this engine have been installed on a engine dynamometer for long time to make a precise adjust work, and I want to test the genboard at the same time than motec ones.
My new dyno photos, The brake is a eddy current retarder from Telma, The engine is connected to the brake by chain drive with the chainwheel mounted over torque dumper.

Adaptor PCB with stock Suzuki GSXR connectors
I prefer to build a PCB adaptor and use original connector, in this way, this ecu is plug and play in any efi suzuki engine.
[Sandwich1.JPG] | [Sandwich2.JPG] | [Sandwich3.JPG] | [Sandwich4.JPG] |
This adaptor have a conditioning circuit for original pick-ups (cam and crank) copied from original ecu (very small SMD and silicone packed).
IGBT´s have been placed in this board because original genboard will be cuted to reduce dimensions.
My first testings
Last two weeks I have been building a test bench with a car engine, The reason is than I haven´t GSXR engine, the team i was working for have broken, and i want to have a stable test bench to test anything without ask to anybody.

I´m using GSXR COPS in wasted spark ,My objetive is to add a cam sensor and use it in fully sequencial.
I´m going to continue trying to install a genboard in a motorbike, Now there are a posible project with yamaha R1 engines.
The R1 engine is here!

Our mision is to install a Motec, but I hope to get install and test genboard in this engine, it is completely new engine, from a absolutely 0 km motobike!!!
My configuration questions
I have my engine running with fully sequencial ignition!!!, At the moment I have found one only minor problem, It seems to it mainly accurs with low battery. The first turn during crancking seems to apears strange firing sequence, the sequence is ign03, ign03, ign2 and ign1 (yes!!! ign03 are fired two times) and only one ignition is fired in correct cylinder!!! , With low battery it ocurrs continuously and engine don´t start, with charged battery it occurs one only time and the next cycle the engine starts without problem (some times it makes a ugly explosions when start for intake or exhaust)

It looks like some of the current to the starter motor goes through the ground that is used for trigger. This is called "ground loop". Make sure to avoid ground loops:
- disconnect the onboard bridge ("arch") between GND and GND5
- connect all GND and GND5 ground pins with separate, sufficiently thick wires (0.75mm2 or above preferred) to a ground you call engine-ground (often at the battery).
- shielded cable for trigger would be nice: the shield must be grounded on one end only !
- the trigger ground connects to GND close to the EC36 connector (not close to the engine-ground, and especially not tapping GND5)
I think it's a firmware problem. Because i've got the same cranking trouble wirh the new firmware. The same system works OK with the older(2 month ago) firmware. I've got 4 cylinder with wastedspark. - Fero

I have no multichannel oscilloscope so I built a "channel multiplier" DAC: I have fit a diferent resistor (1k, 2.2k, 4.7k and 9.4k resistor) on each ignition output and i have mixed it to a only one oscilloscope input.
This is the result:
Another test:
It is evident why the engine make a intake explosions during cranking. It seem only a minor problem in my old test engine (seat ibiza 1500cc), but it could be harmful for the yamaha R1 2005 engine.
Try http://www.vems.hu/files/Firmware/release/v3_firmware_2004-11-24_v13_rc3.zip or newer. In timing_init() I changed to \n
engine.igncount = (config.secondary_trigger & _BV(strig_cam_sync)) ? 0 : config.ignchmax;
Last testing (28-June-2005) with v3_firmware_2004-11-24_v13_rc5
Correct sequence
1, 0 3 2 1, 0 3 2 1, 0
during first turns
with 200ms timebase
0 3 2, 1 3 2 1, 0 3 2 1, 0 3 2 1, 0 3 2 1, 0 3 2 1, ...
The strange thing is, that if this is the case, it should work well with engine.igncount = config.ignchmax; (no condition for (config.secondary_trigger & _BV(strig_cam_sync))
Can you take a note of
pulseheight_h[2]=.. .. .. .. ..
With numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 sticked that are not ignchannels but the height of scope-signals ?
About ignchannels and height of scope-signals:
The ignchannel 00 is highest pulse and ignchannel 03 is lowest one.
h[2]=00 01 02 03 00 01 02 03
It seems correct.
