My project is to turbocharge a BMW E30 325i M20 engine.
Engine specs:
- cyl count=6
- main trigger= 60-2 on crank http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=MembersPage%2FGergelyLezsak%2FTrigger
- stock internals
- T3/T4 turbo 50 A/R Compressor, 0.63 A/R Turbine .57 Trim 3" inlet stage 3 wheel
- Oil cooling on pistons http://www.e30tech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5223
- Intercooler will be as big as possible
- Lime green 440 cc bosch high imp petrol injectors
I guess we have a lot in common: [MembersPage/GergelyLezsak]

I want to order pretty soon now but I still have questions about what I have to order.
This should be able to run ignition and injection without problems.
Q: Do you plan to build your own harness or re-use the stock harness with it's limitations? There are things you should order to make it easier to build your own harness, like the injector connectors.
- I deff would like to built my own harness so I need the connectors. Any other items?
Q: What kind of cable will you use for serial communication with the Genboard? A preferred method is to use the "serial jack kit" from the webshop, which is basically a 6.3 mm stereo jack female+male. Mount that in your dash somewhere and wire it to the serial pins on the EC18 connector. This involved building a custom serial cable to connect your computer with a male 6.3 mm plug in one end and DSUB9 female in the other end.
- I guess I will use your method and use a USB port.
A keyboard and LCD can be used to adjust anything (including maps). However you really do want a notebook and MegaTune to tune the ignition map.
- I have a notebook right here so that's not a problem. Should I still order the LCD or is there no need for it then?
- I personally find the LCD very useful. Many things can go wrong with a custom install (cabling problem, high EGT, ego correction reaching it's limits, resulting in insufficient lambda, etc...) and the LCD and PS2 often makes it possible to diagnose problems without carrying a notebook (noone carries a notebook in the car 100% of the time). After the engine is tuned, the LCD would normally just confirm that everything is alright - if you otherwise don't believe in problems :-)
- Okay I totaly agree with you.
EDIS (wasted spark) coils for ignition should work. (I assume you have the connector for the EDIS coil)
