VEMS V3 ECU order ID: 12478, serial nr.: 14023
The engine runs. Now the Mercedes electronic throttle should be connected and configured.
(btw, you should write some details about the engine, NOT even mentioned here the number of cyl).
Does it have manual gearbox ?
Please refrain from calling if neglecting even the simplest instructions afterwards anyway. Eg. haven't document resistance as requested (a very simple basic measurement):
Electronic throttle DC motor Measured resistance= ... Ohm
ETC wiring diagram:
Please confirm the tests of the safety system when you get there. Do NOT drive the car with safety system disabled (or ETC not perfectly tuned and vemslogs confirmed by some professional)
Standard is: bridgeoutput driver in separate box.
However, some nonstandard setup was requested in this case (unfortunately at time of order, project page did not exist - really should for anything special for obvious reasons).
bridgeoutput driver inside v3 ? The number of clamping plates do NOT confirm this. Therefore some investigation needed.
Started bad (special request without project page), but to make it worse: SSC6 pinout was lost.

SSC6 colors (and THICKNESS. Which wires are thicker ?)
1 blue-nothing (???) You mean 0V? Measured from what base ?
2 brown 10V
3 orange-battery+
4 yellow 5.72V (measured from what base ?)
5 light blue 6.28V (measured from what base ?)
6 black-ground
Now start over, and measure as instructed (on phone). Measure from 5V also and take note of exact conditions (eg injector PWM%) and measurements and wire thickness. Measure at least with injector pwm 30% and 70%, see reactions and take note.
with injPWM=30%, Measuring from 5V as base

with injPWM=70%, Measuring from 5V as base

Please detail your complete wiring so we can review (list form, NOT drawing)
Utmost care is required for any ETC install. Very different than how this install was handled so far.
Normally it's best if engine does not start until properly installed. But doing it sloppily usually only wastes time (eg. costs a week more and a few hundred EUROs). However if I understand this engine runs, and people and property are in real danger if driving or tuning ETC attempted in the habit this install was started.
Because of the severity, and bad tendencies experienced (not measuring anything as requested, and not following most instuctions at all) :
Really, complete project details are required with ECU wiring (whatever you have so far; you obviously have on paper anyway).
We'll send an expert to the site if requested, if this has been completed. (would be meaningless to send if no good docs, the expert's time is too precious to spend halfday untangling wires).
Testing bridge-control output
- OC0 PWM "bridgecontrol" output: by injector settings PWM-ing 30..50..70%
- measure with scope DVM
Testing analog inputs
- VemsTune View gauges: Analog inputs Raw; watch changes while:
- connect via 1k to GND (and than to: +5V)
- NOTHING CHANGES in VT
- what were the measured voltages when the other end of 1k resistor was connected to +5V and GND ?
- So no pin with +1.5V (=5V-3.5V ) or so when 1k to GND ?
- no pin(s) that change voltage (measured from 5V as base) when injector PWM-ing is adjusted between 30% and 70% ?
Ec18 pins - the ec18 paper was NOT lost
- EC18/6 = mch6
- tested OK. (internal pullup ?)
- EC18/12 = mch7
- tested OK. (internal pullup ?)
- LIST OTHER EC18 PINS, ESPECIALLY mcp3208 inputs
- planned usage for ETC signals ?
- TPS2 = ?
- PPS1 = ?
- PPS2 = ?
Are there 3 analog inputs (operational) on your EC18 ?
- 3 inputs without internal pullup are most often used;
- if no 3 inputs without pullup, PPS2 (which is normally inverted, so near 5V means low pedal position %) might be used with pullup. (and TPS2 if really needed)
Pull the input candidate to GND with 1k resistor. The input has internal pullup if measures > 0.5V (usually 1.3 .. 1.6V or so from internal 2k7 pullup)
