I have access to wiring diagrams for any North American vehicle 1983-present. I have a limited understanding of electronics and am struggling with the code. Would be glad to exchange wiring diagrams for a little help with code. Or if you are as dumb as me, the wiring diagrams are still available in exchange for nothing. alandaeric at hotmail dot com
I have been out of this site for quite awhile now, time to get serious and start putting some effort in. I have at least 3 people interested in this if I can get it working. I know vems code isn't ready to do 8cyl coil on plug yet (right?), I have some friends with the new LS2 motors from GM that come with the coils plus and I want to run them on mine. I need help understanding exactly what it is that needs to be done.
I have a friend with a vehicle that I can use for checking the factory setup as well as a set of the coils.
This is what I know so far: 4 wires, 12v , ground, ground to the ecu and then the trigger wire. I have done some various measurements on a running vehicle. Trigger is by a 4 volt signal (I didnt think to check the trigger time but the scale was set to 1 second and it was just a vertical blip) that does not change at all with rpm. I suspect it is extremely low amp. I have measured dwell, it sits around 59 degrees at all engine speeds and loads. Duty cycle was at about 95%, stayed constant. Pulse width changed dramatically but if I understand it correctly, that is due to the engine speed increase that is decreasing the amount of time each coil has between firing.
"The pulse I applied was inverted with an ES2J (fast, 600V, SMB, same as used for flyback) diode and a 2k7 resistor pullup from 5V to the IGBT output (this makes it possible to use the same output for a raw transformer with max 7A and 380V). Pulse was about 4.5V for a short 1.5msec time, and normally 0.53V. To achieve this, I used ign_out=71 inverted semantics so the IGBT is switched on normally."
I stole that from this page (http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=IgnitionPage%2FTransformerWithAmplifier)
I assume that is what I need to do but I get lost in the lingo, a simple schematic would be easier if someone could direct me.
What else is needed to be known before this can be made to happen?
- Use the same driver as the original IGBT is driven from, just solder a jumper wire in place of the IGBT, between the 2 pins closest to the EC36 connector, and use ign_out=70 in your config /Emil
Forgot to put a summary of change, I hope this is what shows up in the brackets on the RecentChanges page
