Preparations before install
- Make sure you have a working TPS (resistive type, not microswitch)
- If you have a trigger wheel on your engine from factory, describe it and see if it's usable, otherwise, make a simple wheel on the front pulley and use a Honeywell GT1 sensor
- Make a good ground point close to where your VEMS unit will sit
- Check over mechanics once again, Oil, water, fuel system
While doing the install
- Wire up temp sensors, check that readings are ok
- Check that TPS is ok and calibrate, must react as soon as you start pressing the pedal
- Wire up trigger, crank the engine and see that you have RPM signal
- Wire up fuel pump, make sure it works properly
- Wire up ignition coils, use a strobe light to check that tdc_delay is correct while cranking
- Wire up injectors, start the car, and once again, use strobelight to see that advance is correct throughout the whole rpm range
