Audi 5 cyl (firing order 1,2,4,5,3)
Trigger c010
HALL / HALL
- primtrig HALL 5 pulse on crank
- sectrig HALL 1 pulse on cam
IMPORTANT:
- use battery kill switch only to save life (eg. after accident). NOT to stop the engine
- EC36/25 = 12V (ignition on) => OFF (ignition off) is the proper way to stop the engine.
Outputs (v3/20216 6 IGBT + 2 logiclevel; low voltage flyback on EC36/6) (replacement of v3/375 8 IGBT).
Will need another replacement, after v3/20216 damaged after igncoil test. Will need 2nd RS232 and BT-RS232.
important: Ignition
- old: M & W from IGBT outputs
- new: TFSI: logiclevel output for active coils
- Use: 4 stepper outputs + 1 logiclevel ignout
- eg. EC18/4,5,10,11 and EC36/11
Ignition outputs. IGBT outputs, for old install. BAD choice for active coils, see above ! See GenBoard/Manual/IgnitionOutput
Ign 1cyl EC18-pin4
Ign 2cyl EC18 pin5
Ign 3cyl EC18 pin10
Ign 4cyl EC18-pin11
Ign 5cyl EC36-pin11
Hint: connect one output first, and test from VemsTune (ignition output testing). Make sure not to blow coils with misconfiguration (accidentally configuring as other output, activating output continuously)
Injector outputs. Order is weird (not in firing order)

Other outputs
NOT USED: ALS EC36-pin 16 (p259/1) ... NOT connected
- solenoid connected to p259/1 might cause damage
- detail (resistance, max current ??) if in use, rethink
- prefer a free injector output (or ignition IGBT output)
RPM actuator output EC36-pin17 (inj-H)
- inj output should be safe, but is this shiftlight ?
- yes, shiftlight: NOT connected
- or variable intake solenoid ?
- what exactly ? Measured resistance ?
fuel pump relay EC36-pin15
- prefer a free injector output (or ignition IGBT output, or stepper output), p259 only as a last chance
- PLEASE change to a free injector output
WBO2 EC18-pin 7,13,18,9
WBO2 +12v 5A fuse
- EC36 pin 5,21,22,26,32 ground
- EC36-pin 25 vems supply +12v (5A fuse)

Ignition outputs modified to ec18 pin 4,5,10,11 and ec36 pin 11
- sparks on test, but no injector output activation (not even in test mode).
- is failsafe mode somehow triggered ?
- +12V is present
Injection SOLVED !
Igncoil part nr: 07K 905 715F
Engine was running !
2020-06-10, while ignition ON:
- ECU fuse was blown
- Via telephone, the fuse blown during ignition/spark testing ! (very important information !)
- See below !
- Since than fuse is blown after each ignition ON attempt, even if only ECU is connected...
- It TURNED out the battery-kill switch caused damage. Battery-kill(disconnect) switch is to save human live(s) after an accident. Not to be operated with a running engine, normally.
- 18V transient diodes at (EC36/25 supply and EC36/23 flyback pin) damaged, ECU seems to operate after diodes replaced (with no signs of any malfunction so far)
- all sensors disconnected
- sensors should not matter much, but outputs also disconnected, assumedly ?
- 2020-06-2x stepper was blown (really), replaced; mcp3208 was also damaged, replaced. ECU + engine was running.
- 2020-07-11 worked quite well for appr. 8hours
- trailer 1 hour (engine off)
- next morning: 2020-07-13 (or 14th) ECU 5A fuse blown
- after that, v3/20216 repeatedly blows fuse.
- exact cause Not known
- will need 1A fuse if possible
VAG active coil COP Igncoil 4 pin U shaped connector, Pinout:
- pin1 +12v (via relay, but NO FUSE !!! )
- pin2 GND
- pin3 ECU output (stepper or logiclevel ignout)
- pin4 GND
This seems to match pinout (from [webshop]
- but using fuses is mandatory. 1 fuse (5A) / channel for correct installs,
- or a shared fuse (15A) for sloppy installs
During spark testing v3/20216, was the sparkplug grounded ?
- Eg. touched to cylinder head (which was grounded) ?
- yes, all 5 sparkplugs were removed, and grounded to cyl head (according to the quick phone interview)
- note that it is very easy to make some mistake during this test ;
- do we know if all the 5 igncoils survived, or some got damaged ?
[vemscfg config file] Reviewed digoaudiAAN.vemscfg :
- config validate warns about partial fuelcut enabled
- but that should not cause issues during spark test;
- I don't see any issues in config that should cause it (dwell configured 1ms, ign_dwellmap = 1).
- Dave's best guess would be: some wiring problem or battery-kill-switch to cause damage
