I have a car with Magneti Marelli cam (VR?) sensor(very hard to modify cam sensor), 3 sectrig teeth.
1.1.89 (and newer) firmware supports this
- secondary trigger settings dialog
- ignore sectrig pulses above = 15
- default 255 disables it
- this strategy can work for other missing tooth primary trigger wheels: the sectrig pulses after tooth 15 (or whatever config.secignore value is set) are ignored
- tooth0 is the tooth after missing gap, 0..57 are the toothnums for 60-2
Also should be good for the modified Cosworth, which using 36-1 crank trigger wheel, but need to use the original 2-tooth secondary trigger!
- orginal cosworth cam has two impulses 180deg(90deg on cam) apart
Trigger details
- [Trigger log zip]
- Sectrig pulses at: primary trigger tooth = 13,43,51
- primary trigger is 60-2 (trigger tooth=9 64deg before tdc).
- If vems ignore sectrig pulses in range 130-150deg before TDC that leaves only one pulse per cam rotation.
Note
- it doesn't matter if many sectrig pulses come, as long as all those pulses are in the same crankshaft rotation (starting at tooth0 of course, NOT TDC)
- they don't cause operational problem with missing tooth primary trigger wheel (if camsync bad position is configured to flag only, not to cut spark).
When is this strategy not applicable ?
- coil type primary trigger
- like the InputTrigger/LanciaCosworth requires
- when the first sectrig pulse after the primtrig missing tooth comes at the same primtrig tooth, eg:
- 7, 19, 60+7 .. than the config.secignore=6 would eliminate all, 7 would leave both. We don't know such weird campattern (but anglegrinder could help to teach it some etiquette).
