Update, the car had been running! (key word: had). I was getting some minor things worked out on it. Test driving and such. I ran a new shielded wire for my VR sensor and the car ran perfect with no errors.

Problems:

1st problem- I was sitting by the side of the road tuning with my laptop. Everything was fine and dandy. I hadn't realized it at the time but my alternator was not charging. So while idleing i noticed the car was starting to develop a weird idle. I looked at the gauges and noticed that volatage was very low and before i could bring the revs up to give it some charge the car died.

I tried jumping the car, that didnt work. After some work I noticed that the coil fuse had blown. So i replaced it and tried cranking it again. While cranking i noticed that trigger errors were popping up on Megatune. I enabled filtering and the car started right up and ran great.

2nd problem(where i'm at now):

I moved the car into the garage the previous night. I came out the next day and let it idle for about 1 min. The car died (i figured it was from a crappy cold idle tune) but it may have been due to low voltage; I had to get ready for something so i let it be. I came back later that night to do some more tuing and testing and it wouldn't start. It started up and ran like crap. When i could get it running i could keep it at about 4k rpm and then it would just die. I figured i'd try tackling it under the trigger errors avenue first. I first did a test by getting a new VR sensor and a new strand of sheilded wire straight to the ecu. I routed it around everything so that it would be as far away from noise as possible. Still the same result.

So i think i'm down to something ECU related. This was caused by (well what i can only assume) is the ECU trying to get the engine to run on ~9-10V and then the engine eventually dying. I will try putting a scope on it this weekend to verify that the signal is good. In the mean time I'm in need of some ideas. Here's my MCD and MCT for looking over:

  • UPDATE***
I just put the VR trigger on the scope today Reading from the jumper pins internally on the ECU and i'm getting nice consistant pulses. I think we're down to something ECU related now.

HELP!

I'm at the final stage, my ECU is the LAST thing left to do and i have some snags that I need to work out on the ECU before i can start the car. So if anyone has a bit of knowledge going into this and wouldn't mind playing tech support my AIM is bcool122 or you can post your IM handle. Doesn't matter to me any help would be appreciated.

Alright i'll start off with a few questions:

I'm afraid my anolog to digital converter might be dead or it might be something I need to change.I know that the TPS and MAP share a common 5v reference signal. When I power up the board on megatune the TPS and the MAP range are both at 100% and they slowly drop down consistently together until they get to about here???????:

VR trigger

consists of a 24 tooth wheel that rotates at camspeed (12 tooth per crankrot)

I cant get the VEMS to respond to the Crank angle sensor under Multitooth but i can get it to make a response if i list it under "coil type" I'm spinning it at a decent rate too on the table. - "Special N-1" should be enabled - FERO

See IssueReports for what to include in your report (firmware, mcd, mct dump, etc...)

Please capture a InputTrigger/TriggerLog so we can see if your VR sensor is connected reverse.

from sensor, and measure EC36pin27 with DVM 200mV DC setting (against GND EC36pin26) that + and - are right (if not, swap sensor pins).

Sensor resistance Ohm = .... (measure and fill this) Ohm

...and all of this is going off of Jason Russel's design;

I'm getting the board soldered up with all the diodes at the moment I put on all the ES2J diodes but i read in another guide that if I'm running high impudence injectors i need other diodes. Is this true or will these work?

Here's what the ECU is pretty much going to look like finalized (minus hoses and a few FETs on the bottom side) I went ahead and just mounted the flyback diode in the case:

do NOT power up yet! Check the MAP sensor, looks like it's mounted upside down. MPX4250AP MAP sensor Pin1 has a notch, should be toward the AVR !!!

This is where my car sits right now, I'm down to some of the last few details for getting it running and one of those hangups is my VEMS V3.2. I've had the controller for a while but have just recently been needing to use it.

My coil pack setup, my only fear with this setup is finding a way to get rotary trailing split to work.
