About:
Peugeot XU, EW series engines crankshaft sensor ring machined to flywheel.
pulse ring: 60-2 type.
- sensor at TDC = on a 20 teeth falling edge (= 290.5 mm to the rotation direction from first tooth rising edge).
- tooth width = approx. 8 mm (actually near 7.98 mm)
- space width = approx. 7 mm (actually near 6.91 mm)
Ring 'contains' 60 teeth and 60 spaces
diameter 284.3 mm -> circular length 893,155 mm
-> 1 degree = 2,480985532 mm
Sensor position before TDC (to middle of the VR sensor tip) by counting the tooths and spaces:
20 x 7.98 mm + 19 x 6.91 mm => 159.6 + 131.29 = 290.89 mm -> 117.25 degrees.
Sensor position by circular length (measured):
290.5 mm -> 117.1 degrees.
=> Sensor is located at 117 degrees. (trigger_tooth=09 or 0A sounds fine)
Conclusion and toughts;
Wonder why the sensor position is little bit in such an 'odd' angle ('by design' could it be 120 degrees ?).
- What is wrong with 117 ?
- make sure to measure from the tip of the tooth that comes after the missing tooth (this is tooth0) ... to the TDC
Note.
Measured from 3 different flywheels -> results were similar/compatible with each other.
