BMW M44B19 engine 1997
Motronic 88 pin harness in BMW E36 318is
- VR / HALL
- 4 IGBT seems enough
- stepper chip might not be needed
Primary trigger VR, but polarity is not confirmed. Best guess (without measurement, so not confirmed)
- mot88/78=EC36/27 (black ?)
- Pin 78 is the positive signal - Gunni
- (hopefully 3 * tooth time between falling edges at the missing tooth of the 60-2 wheel... and rising slowly in the middle)
- mot88/20=GND (yellow ?)
- ANY INFORMATION IS WELCOME. IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO BMW M44 harness, please check colors (is the above correct ?)
- If you have engine, or installed before, any scopeshot or notes would be welcome. Thanks.
The Mechanical keying of the M44 harness mot88 connector would be nice to see also (although easy to cut out if necessary). Any info or pic welcome. Thanx.
IDLE actuator / ISC valve
- M44/pin2 and M44/pin29 (open/close) direction matches M52 ?
- apparently M44/pin2 should be inj-H (like M52/pin27 if the BMW ISC valve drawings on p104 and p132 are consistent; )
- inj-G and inj-H with low Voltage flyback (like with M52)
- resistance (ohm) ?
Valves
- M44/pin58 Changeover valve resistance ?
- M44/pin61 EVAP valve resistance ?
Relays (usually 92 .. 120 Ohm ?)
- M44/pin27 DME relay (resistance ?)
- flyback diode removed or changed to 18V bidir for p259/1 (EC36/1) controlling DME relay
- M44/pin63 Fuel pump relay (resistance ?)
- M44/pin57 Aux fan relay (resistance ?)
AC ON input
- M44/pin69 need pullup or does not matter ?
- There looks to be an internal pull down in the OEM ECU so no a pullup is not needed.
