Project description:
Drift car BMW with swapped AMG 6,3 V8 engine.
Engine is from Mercedes E-class w211 AMG m156 6,3 v8, year 2002-2009
Engine is and will be completely stock.
Engine configuration:
- 2x DOHC V8 with 4x variable cams and 4x cam sensors
- 8x individual coils
- Variable intake or swirl flaps (not clear now, but i will check it later - but this is not problem for now)
- 2x Electronic throttle bodies
- VEMS is one of the very few ECUs that can control 2 x DBW (ETC) electronic throttle bodies, via CAN-bus: the [BMW S65 type]
Ignition coil datasheet or pinout
I don't know if they are active or passive. My tip is that they are active, but can someone please provide info ?
- if you can measure appr 0.6 .. 0.8 Ohm resistance between 2 pins (same in both directions; Also high inductance but that cannot be measured easily with most DVM), they are passive; otherwise active.
This should be the coil number: Bosch 0 986 221 128 - 4pin connector
Two electronic throttle bodies. Is there any possibility to buy Vems which can control two throttle bodies?
- VEMS is one of the very few ECUs that can control 2 x DBW (ETC) electronic throttle bodies, via CAN-bus: the [BMW S65 type DBW]
Any ideas how to connect two throttle bodies to the Vems?
I have 1 idea, but i dont know if it will work. My idea is on wiring diagram picture below.
- However, currently only 1 dummy DBW/ETC throttles can be controlled via current firmware and 1 ECU.
- 2 VEMS ECUs can control 2 dummy DBW/ETC throttles (all, or most of the tables can be identical in the ECUs, and can be tuned simultaneously in one go; with some setup task, and saving separately, for comparison/verification).
VVT
. I don't know the type of Variable Valve technology of this engine. It looks like 4 solenoids and 4 camshaft sensors. But i have no idea how these triggers works.
Does anybody here have any repair manual and wiring diagrams for this engine and especialy for vvt technology and its logic?
VEM can control 4 cams (2 exhaust, 2 intake), with feedback from 4 cam-sensors (5 triggers total). There is no indication so far that there is any problem to control these with VEMS ECU, but exact pulsetrain information would make it more assuring.
Problem Nr.4: Which trigger settings i should use in vems tune? There are many trigger teeth at cam wheels as you can see on pictures below.
Please, i need help from vems group or anybody with experiences with these engines. I would like to order the ECU, but want to order the right configuration without mistakes.
