Pinout, and changes compared to VEMS v3.x ECU pinout.
The new ECU design allows 200+ IO (easy to change to lower or larger number as necessary), first family member is intentionally very similar to the proven and rugged EC36 and EC18 design reliably controlling engines (with high precision, and double WBO2) for 17+ years and guaranteed (by us) to be available for another 2 decades to come.
EC36 and EC18 pinout
Differences:
- EC36/pin18 has LOW voltage flyback by default optimal for idle-valve-solenoid (not recommended for injector)
- EC36/pin20 and EC36/pin9 are "bridge1/2" high-current push-pull drivers for electronic throttle (ETC/DBW). Not recommended for injectors (low voltage flyback, and currently fw does not support injectors on these anyway).
- EC36/ ... injector FET outputs ("FET" outputs are NFETs)
Same:
- power and grounds
- stepper,
- VT communications (if using serial, not USB)
6+ communication busses
- 2+1 CAN busses
- 2 * RS485
- (up to 1000m, much more than CAN; very reliable for 5..10m and easy to work with). Megabit speed possible (but 115..230k most of the time)
- 2 * RS232
- traditional, works reliably for a few meters (including BT-RS232). Typically 19200..115200 baud. Might not be reliable with USB and poor windows drivers (unfortunately that is often the case, it's the USB and windows most of the time, not the RS232).
- 1 * USB (USB-B)
- USB is a rather bad design (mechanically also troublesome), but wide-spread in PC-s, notebooks, androids. High-speed (could be useful for downloading large sets of ECU datalogs)
- other: optional wifi or ethernet or other WAN connection (possibly LORA) via adapter
Is there some pre defined EC10 and SSC6 options already setup?
As the communications bus options are not on the EC18 or EC36 diagram.
What about extra digital inputs for more triggers or 2nd / 3rd /4th wheelspeed , flexfuel etc, are some of the analogs dual purpose maybe?
