MAP-board 1.0
This adapter is used to hold the 400kPa MPXH6400 sensor. Motorola packages this nice sensor in SMD only, so a PCB was necessary for a clean install. Output is compatible with the more common MPX4250AP sensor, but features 400kPa range instead of 250kPa. Recommended for > 130kPa (1.3bar, 18psi) boost.
there are some simple extras onboard, like
- regulator (so it can be powered from 12V and there is a 5V output)
- thermometer (Temperature output)
Pinout of the 5V version
pin nr. | color | signal | range | note''' |
1 | white | MAP output | 0 .. 4.8V | 20..400kPa |
2 | brown | GND | 0V | |
3 | red | 5V in | 5V | max 10mA |
4 | blue | temp out | 0.5 .. 4.5V | NTC, similar U(T) as CLT |
5 | - | GND internal | 0V | |
6 | - | not connected | - |
The first 3 pin is compatible with the MPX4250AP pinout.
When mounting onboard GenBoard/VerThree, for mechanical stiffness:
- recommended to connect all 6 pins
- some hotmelt helps for extra ruggeddness
- the pneumatic tube to the frontplate also secures the mounting
Mounting is normally done vertically, perpendicular to the v3.x PCB. The nipple is horizontal, points to the "VIV" type pneumatic connector mounted "through the frontplate". Notice that this sensor has small 5x3mm nipple, so
- either the smaller 5x3 mm VIV connector is needed
- or VIV connector that is 5x3mm on one side and 6x4mm on the other side

Pinout of the 12V version
Note that populated this way, the supply has a wide range, and the 5V is output, not input. Applying 5V to the 5V output is not supported, it might damage the unit. Use the 5V version if you want to power from 5V
pin nr. | color | signal | range | note''' |
1 | white | MAP output | 0 .. 4.8V | 20..400kPa |
2 | brown | GND | 0V | |
3 | red | 5V out | 5V | max 80mA. Useful for HALL, TPS, etc... |
4 | blue | temp out | 0.5 .. 4.5V | NTC, similar U(T) as CLT |
5 | - | GND internal | 0V | |
6 | grey | +12V in | 6.3 .. 16V |
Coming soon: packaged versions for engine bay (eg. firewall mount) usage
The packaging (for engine-bay usage) is not solved yet, but a small box (min 30x26x29mm internal dimensions) would be nice. Maybe an L-shape Al profile will help, using the pneumatic connection and 2 screws to secure the circuit. Holes are needed for easy mounting of the whole package. Maybe epoxy casting would work as well. Ideas welcome.
