Supply voltage and communication connection must be stable during AfreshTiny/FirmwareUpgrade
If upgrade is not successful for some reason, "SSSS"-flooding is needed. (this procedure is different from the GenBoard/Firmware/BootLoaderLoopback )
with a simple terminal program
- start "SSSSS"-flooding
- from a TerminalProgram, "Send file": sending a big file full of "S" characters (min 50000, as 19200,8n1 means 1920 characters sent per second). Newlines are OK. Eg with wordpad copy 300 lines into a txt file with 200 "S" characters / line. Case is important (must be Capital-S, not lowercase-s !!!).
- pressing SSSSSS on the keyboard in TerminalProgram will NOT work
- power up round device
- if round answers "AVR2" message upon "S", that is a clear indication it went to boot loader
- upload firmware
- either with the firmwareuploadcomx.bat (==roundloader.exe)
- or with VemsTune
- repeat the above procedure if does not succeed. As it seems that trying up to 5..10 times was necessary in some cases, new wizard that makes this even easier should be available in VemsTune 2010-04-13
with VemsTune
- Set up VemsTune preferences/communication properly.
- start "Round Emergency Revival" (Tools/Firmware)
- Click on Start button
- power up round device
- Wait 5 sec if status is changed to "ROUND BOOT DETECTED" than go to fw upload
- If status still is waiting than turn power off and repeat the above procedure if does not succeed. As it seems that trying up to 5..10 times was necessary in some cases.
