Flyback and Injector Driver Options Discussion.
---- Update I am running an FJO Injecor Driver unit on my latest project: MembersPage/KevinBlack/VWGTIAnother16v ---- Intro *Some of my applications will be max effort, using low-z injectors. *I do not want to run out of duty cycle early like on all the SDS ecu cars I tune. => Bosch has very nice 1600cc high impedance injectors. *** I did not see this comment until today. Thanks for the input. ***There is a user trying these with no resistors (the Bosch 1600 cc injectors are 5 ohm) and I am waiting to see the result. ---- Link to Injector Spec Database, additions welcome: MembersPage/KevinBlack/InjectorSpecDatabase ---- * From what I am reading, there are 3 different ways to control the injectors. # Diode/resistor # Powerflyback # PWM Please share your thoughts on each setup below. I found this: MembersPage/HansK/SuzukiSwiftGTIMK/FlyBack So far 30v transient Suppresor diodes and 6.8 ohm resistor seems to be the best setup for Low-Z. ---- Talking Points 1)What is the best injector control setup for low-z injectors?(Delphi 96#,Siemens 83# and 72#,Bosch 160#) **Marcell said: I would definitely use high-Z injectors, and 30V transient diode flyback. That's the easiest to tune, and most smooth idle. It's very easy to bypass the 30V with powerflyback, if one has to tune a setup with low-Z injector in some occasion. 2)What about running an external injector driver? (FJO brand)People with OEM ecus report better idle and more HP can be made with a given size injector with a peak and hold driver. 3)How do the other ecu companies control low-z injectors? Why do they not need flyback protection? Can we get a true peak and Hold driver for the VEMS? 4)Anybody using Honda or DSM OEM resistor boxes? These often wire to the + side of the injector, one wire in and 4 out. The OEM resistor boxes mount easily, usually have a heat sink, and can be found cheaply. * measure resistance. Likely 4..8Ohm for each injector => if so, than it is possible to use this with the 30V TS diode. Could be a nice option. ** The ohms are in that range. It is a nice small package. ---- |
