Visit Preferences to set your user name Summary of change: '''Audi A4 2.7T VEMS Project''' The project is a 1996 Audi A4 2.8 with a 2.7T swap. Using the stock trigger wheel (60-2) and stock sensors for IAT, CLT, with a VW VR6 throttle body, stock turbos. Running with a V3.3 ECU currently running 1.0.36 firmware (I know it's a bit old, but it's pretty stable and I know it should run the 60-2 as I used it on my friends VR6) We can help upgrading to 1.0.73 or 1.1.26 (or later) if you publish mcd and mct dumpfiles. ---- For the life of me I can't seem to get the car to run... using the proper settings for a 60-2 in the trigger setup. * good settings: ** 58 teeth, ** next trigger tooth 20, * how do you know TDC is 18+65 degrees after the tooth after missing tooth ? Measured with strobe ? Or counted ? Do you have a InputTrigger/TriggerLog ? How do you know trigger polarity ? I do not know TDC if 18?+65 (I'm guessing 65 that is the TDC after the trigger number but what is 18?) is that many deg. after the missing tooth. How can I measure that with a strobe? as the motor and tranny are in the car and the 60-2 wheel is on the flywheel. trigger polarity I might be able to check with another identical VR sensor from another 2.7T motor. ** trigger tooth 3 ** TDC after the trigger ~65 makes the TDC mark on the crank pulley line up almost perfect. but trying to start the car, all it does it back fire and kick back. Running 3 two pole coils (from a stock Audi 2.8L V6) directly w/ the VEMS, coil out 0,1 & 2 transversed backwards obviously in MT. RPM readings are about right I'd say during cranking anywhere from 200-290 RPMs. Firing order is 1-4-3-6-2-5. Are you certain about the firing order and cylinder numbering ? We had the same symptoms on a V8 when our assumptions on cyl numbers was bad. http://z.about.com/d/autorepair/1/0/_/I/93033214.gif The car will somewhat run when the trigger wheel settings are changed to trigger tooth 3 next trigger tooth 10, but the RPMs are WAYYYY off (at approx 2k RPM VEMS is showing 4-45k RPM), but the car runs (we actually drove it out of the shop like that as it had to leave where it was sitting). I am thoroughly confused about this. Is not every 60-2 wheel set up the same regardless of what car/motor/size of wheel, etc? ---- MSQ's (obviously for the older MT release for firmware 1.0.36) http://www.vems.hu/files/MembersPage/Sascha/S4/S4_%20base.msq - Base map with proper trigger wheel settings. * Why don't you use these settings if you know they are proper ? ** I'm not sure if they are proper, I was under the impression that a 60-2 wheel setting is the same as any other 60-2 equipped motor. http://www.vems.hu/files/MembersPage/Sascha/S4/S4_%20fucked.msq - Base map with screwed up trigger wheel settings that actually made the car start/run without too much of a problem (didn't run properly obviously, but was able to drive home) * with this, did the car start reproducibly without kickback ? ** Yes it did. The car starts fine and runs... just not well as it's showing about double the rpms the motor is actually running at. Use the mcd, mct dump format as on IssueReports. Either TerminalProgram, or with v3gui (available from MegaTune page), File/download-config menu * Ok I will get a dump for you. I will also be upgrading to .73 firmware as Jorgen suggested. ---- Back to MembersPage/Sascha Optional: Add document to category: Wiki formatting: * is Bullet list ** Bullet list subentry ...
