Current setup: 1992 Ford Escort GT - 1.8L DOHC Mazda BP-DE engine, fuel injectors driven off a standard B&G megasquirt - fuel pump and ignition control is still controlled by stock Bosch L-Jet ECU, which means I still have the stock VAF along with the MAP sensor used by the Megasquirt. Desired setup: Would like to acquire a GenBoard/VerThree and use it to control ignition along with fuel injection. Not sure whether I'll use the EDIS4 module I have lying around or not yet. EDIT: June 22, 2004: Have ordered my GenBoard/VerThree and am waiting for it to arrive. :) Possible contributions to group: I am willing to put significant time into writing/editing/proofing how-to guides, faqs, manuals, and general infopages for the project. ---- Information on camshaft position sensors for my car: I have the ability to retain one of two camshaft position sensors for my vehicle: The first one (and the one I already have) has two concentric rings, with two opto-interruptor pickups in it: The wheel inside looks like this: http://members.aol.com/solomiata/Miata16CASdisk.jpg My other option (which is a direct bolt-on in exchange for the optical based system above, is a cam angle sensor which uses a hall-effect sensor system. It looks like this: http://members.aol.com/solomiata2/Miata18CAS2.jpg Any ideas which would be more useful (and less problematic) to help triggering if I were to go distributor-less? I can source a 36 - 1 tooth wheel and epoxy that to the crankshaft pulley, along with a variable-reluctance sensor as well to get exact crankshaft position, but since the camshafts are driven off the crank, this method seems fine to me. From talking to people on the IRC channel (thanks Dave23 and emil__), I've decided that the hall-effect sensor would be the best system. I believe that I'll pick one of those up and go with that. ---- Thoughts on Wideband O2 sensors. The TechEdge people (www.wbo2.com) say that there are differences between the Bosch LSU4 sensors - and that the 7057 and 6066 sensors are not compatible with one another. Any thoughts on this? I know the one sold in the shop is the 7057, but they (TechEdge) seem to think the 6066 is faster responding due to less shrouding. Any thoughts on this?
