On v3.0 .. v3.2 it's recommended to use a Transient suppression diode on D37. On v3.3 board there already is a SMD diode (printed PJ52 LM) placed, which is an SMB package transient diode. It's possible to solder a bigger throughole transient diode (IN6277A ? IIRC it's type is 1k5e18V) (either onboard or in harness) for extra-protection, but it's better investment to make sure there is a right (max 3A) fuse for the v3.x main supply, and fuse for injectors (max 3A*cyl#), and separate fuses (max 10A) for each ignition transformer, etc....
