Visit Preferences to set your user name Summary of change: Adapting VEMS 3.2 ecu to turbocharged 2.5 liter BMW inline 6 engine which is standard ie. without internal mechanical modifications. Instrumentation, sensors and operational devices. * Crankshaft Speed/Angular Position Sensor (CS) ** Standard BMW/Bosch 60-2 trigger wheel with variable reluctance (magnetic type) sensor. Bosch item 0 261 210 001. * Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (MAP) ** Genboard mounted (VEMS internal) Motorola (MPX4250AP) (2.5 kg/cm2) absolute pressure sensor. * Coolant temperature sensor. (CLT) ** Standard Bosch item: 0 280 130 026 * Inlet Air Temperature sensor (IAT) ** FAE 33180 * Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) ** Standard OEM spare part 'SE04-M'. 2.6 - 0.88 kOhm angular potentiometer, without idle and full throttle microswitch. * Idle Air/Speed Control Valve (IAS) ** Standard BMW/Bosch item 0 280 140 509 (rotary valve type). ** There are other solenoid and stepper types easily available. ** For example: ** Bosch item 0 280 140 530 which has three pin connector (solenoid type). ** Bosch item 3 437 010 524 which has four pin connector (stepper type). *** Which one to choose ? Anyone, succestions or comments ? *** Question - where to get Bosch datasheet or how to otherwise find out the solenoid valve ('on/off' or 'pwm') type ? Easiest way might be doing an measurement in existing car, controlled by original ecu. '530' valve is installed in Peugeot 605. * Lambda Sensor (LS) ** Wide-Band Lambda Sensor (Bosch LSU4). 5 wire special connector, ordered this with the wiring loom connector from VEMS shop. ** LSU4 Bosch item 0 258 007 057. * Ignition Coil(s) ** Standard distributor with 'TZI' coil. ** For example Bosch item 0 221 122 411 or 0 221 118 322 (2 ms coil on time, should be enough) or wasted spark coil for the 6 cylinder engine. (Bosch item: 0 221 503 002. 3ms coil on time, should be enough). ** Could the distributor (with solid axle, ie. no mechanical advance) type ignition cope the spark advance window needed, is yet unknown (must read another member pages and try out). ** Afterall wasted spark coils are quite expensive. ** Todo: Update when spark delivery type selected. * Boost control ** Standard wastegate actuator control 'N75' valve, VW/Audi origin. * Turbo Control ** Turbocharger is 'standard' Carrett T03 center core 'hybrid' item, without variable nozzle turbine. Hence not needeing control device. * Injectors ** Bigger injectors than in standard naturally aspirated BMW engine are needed to cope with increased power level (from 170 PS to around 250-300 PS). ** For maximum fuel vaporisation modern 2 to 6 hole injectors are preferable. ** Bosch: B 280 431 824/20 item. Has four spray holes with wire splitter, four 'atomization helper' air channels, high impedance (~ 16 ohm). 261 g/min approx. 351 cc/min (N-Heptane). Wiring loom ** ECU, standard Genboard v3.2 Econoseal (36 and 18) pin connectors. ** CS, IAT, CLT, TPS sensors and actuators, 2 and 3 pin AMP junior timer connectors. ** LS special 5-pin connector, ordered it from VEMS shop. ** Todo: Schematic and connector pin outs for wiring loom. Firmware, VE, igniton advance and other tables. MembersPage/BengtR/GenBoardAssembled ** TODO: Other information will be updated within few weeks. Optional: Add document to category: Wiki formatting: * is Bullet list ** Bullet list subentry ... '''Bold''', ---- is horizontal ruler,
preformatted text...
See wiki editing HELP for tables and other formatting tips and tricks.
