Visit Preferences to set your user name Summary of change: Hi, I am trying to build my V3.3 board from a kit as I see it as a good way to learn a bit as I go. I have help from a very experienced "solderer", so that bit should go okay. Guess it will arrise some questions on here soon:) A little bit about the project It is a heavy cammed 16V 1293 cc engine with individual TBs. The sensors I am going to have are -tps -inlet temp -map (internal) -wideband lambda -water temp -Vr crank -hall (cam) people recommend AlphaN, I agree now, after reading about it. ---- These could be used in the step by step assembly guide First, topside of board between the two econoseal connectors. A [http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1_15&products_id=93 18V transient diode can be installed] (check your rescue kit, maybe included: marked sg like 1.5k18V): '''FOLLOW up''', this one is not included, but guess I should find it at elfa or similar. I have two of the 30V though. Where the blue line is, should I have something there? A: only needed if you have a stepper http://folk.ntnu.no/sathern/vems/underside_resized_redcircle_blueline.JPG or electrically the same 18V transient diode, but SMB footprint for same traces: http://folk.ntnu.no/sathern/vems/topside_close_resized_greencircle.JPG Q_ Second, flyback. I have high Z injectors and plan to use a 30V diode in the flyback path. Solder the 30V diode as the line in the picture, yes: '''THE MAP SENSOR SEEMS REVERSED, VERIFY!!!''' output signal is pin1 (notched), on the PCB closest to AVR. http://folk.ntnu.no/sathern/vems/topside_resized_flyback.JPG '''THE MAP SENSOR SEEMS REVERSED, VERIFY!!!''' output signal is pin1 (notched), on the PCB closest to AVR. Fourth http://folk.ntnu.no/sathern/vems/trigger_resized_bluelines.JPG '''correct for VR'''. confirmed Secondary hall needs nothing ! '''It still needs the cable on the underside of the board?(blue one below)''' A: as stated in build doc Also here is a picture of wires underneath the board this is for -PC connector (cyan) -no one wire interface (red) -MAP (yellow) -secondary hall (blue) -ground (brown) http://folk.ntnu.no/sathern/vems/underside_resized_wires.JPG '''confirmed''', the brown ground connection is fine there 10 inj drivers (FETs) should be placed in the spots with blue circles. The two with yellow inside is for WBO, one will be used, but will install in both spots as I have enough drivers. Install all 10 FETs, don't use logiclevel "shorts" instead of FET unless you know what you are doing. If you want to have something extra, install a throughole diode between EC18pin17 (anode) and EC36pin23 (cathode) so that FET can drive inductive loads (like relay or solenoid) not just resistive (like LEDs or heater or similar). Make sure this diode does not contact anything else. Secure with hotmelt for extreme vibration resistance. (Heatshrink protection is only for insulation, does not make it vibration-safe). '''Ignition outputs: logiclevel or power output''' For logic level output, IGBT not required, only a short between the two spots closest to the EC-36 (gate and output. The third pad is GND5, not effected). EDIS coil needs power output (NOT logiclevel). Maybe one used for tacho, and one space. The new standard for 4 and 6 IGBT-s supports more freedom with ign-dualout (for wasted spark it does not matter at all). IGBT-s are TO220 (3pin throughole component) places with increased clearance than FETs. LL means logiclevel. Note that the 3 and 2 are in the 2nd line (besides 4 FETs), and always populated (from 2..8 IGBT. Not populated for 0 IGBT of course, where all outputs are logiclevel). Viewed from the bottom of the board: '''4 IGBT-s''': 7 LL LL 6 LL ____ 3 LL ____ 2 Econoseal36 ---- '''6 IGBT-s''': 7 LL LL 6 0 ____ 3 1 ____ 2 Econoseal36 ---- http://folk.ntnu.no/sathern/vems/underside_resized_FET.JPG The obvious: * MAP (verify direction, it is NOT straightforward!!! '''Yours seem reversed!!!''') * econoseals '''MAP was indeed reversed, its fixed and stuff is soldered on now:)''' thanks Marcell! '''Anything else I have forgotten?''' Thanks, good questions (not empty questions, but signs of research => mostly just need confirmation, really good, keep up), good pics ! '''Thanks! The picture may be used by anyone who wants to!''' ---- Hay there buddy, for quick linking, here's my page MembersPage/Sprocket Just trying to get my head round the hardware so a bit overloaded. LOL. Glad there is another Very similar project (wink wink, you know what i mean), we can learn a lot from each other I hope.
