With all the modifications I was starting to have problems getting my car tuned with Motronic. I therefore decided to purchase a PnP VEMS, wideband lambda and EGT sensor. The package arrived promptly down here in South Africa! I then did the crank home polarity change and plugged in the VEMS. I installed the latest version of vemsTune http://vems.hu/download/v3gui/vemsTune-Install-2008-09-03.exe using firmware_1.1.27. The car started first time but was way too rich - I changed to injector_727cc.txt and the car started running nicely! I have not installed the WB lambda or the EGT yet. Next step was to verify that the sensors all gave to correct reading. I noticed that MAT reading and CLT readings were not correct. I tried to load a different CLT file and vemsTune showed a fatal error and said something like "ECU in Boot Mode." I can now not communicate with the ECU at all "ECU not connected" ---- Update I found instructions at http://vems.hu/www.vems.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=209.0 to solve the problem. I switched the ignition off, bridged pins 2 and 3 on the serial cable from the ECU, switched ignition back on, removed the bridge and plugged in again. I ran tools\megaloader.exe firmware\upload.hex -wE 38400 -c com1 but it failed due to flashing problem. No communication again. I redid the bridging exercise and vemsTune connected to the ECU and said it was in "Boot Mode". When I tried to upload firmware, I got the following: Erasing all pages...(be patient) Erase OK! Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 3 Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 8 Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 9 Page write checksum error at page: 10! Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 17 Page write checksum error at page: 18! Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 19 Page write checksum error at page: 20! Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 21 Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 22 Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 23 Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 24 Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 25 Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 26 Fatal error: OUT OF SYNC unable to send address at page: 27 Error detected ECU left in BOOT Mode!
